March meeting

The cohort will be meeting on Friday, March 14 at 8:00 p.m. at Bennigan’s (4926 Dressler Rd N. W., Canton, OH 44718) near Westfield Mall-Belden Village. Here’s what we will discuss:

If reality is socially constructed, then is the church (or should the church be) constructing a new reality for itself and perhaps for others to some extent as well? If yes, then discuss how the concepts of new birth, kingdom of God, discipleship, and “becoming like a child” relate to this. What is the role of the church qua institution in shaping this reality? What, then, is the responsibility of its leaders in this regard? What is the responsibility of the layperson?

We’ll be discussing the meanings of the following passages, and probably a few others.

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born again.” John 3:3 (TNIV)

He called a little child, whom he placed among them.  And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever takes a humble place—becoming like this child—is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
