Hello all,
Robert will likely not be able to make this Friday’s discussion, and has asked me, Tony, to lead the discussion, just in case.
Although there is a lot we could discuss, I’d like to discuss one element, or theme, of the emerging church. One of the early streams of the emerging conversation, as exemplified by Dan Kimball’s books, “Emerging Worship” and “The Emerging Church”, is the idea that Christianity is now looking backward to the Ancient faith(s) as well as looking forward to the future (of media, societal changes, etc), referred to as Ancient-Future faith. So, building on that perspective, here are some questions to think about:
- From your perspective, does the emerging church have this Ancient-Future characteristic? If you think so, what observations lead you to that conclusions?
- Do you have aspects of an Ancient-Future faith? If so, what elements are seen in your spiritual life?
- In what ways is an Ancient-Future faith perspective helpful in furthering the Kingdom of God? In what ways might it be a hindrance?
I look forward to seeing all those who can make it Friday at Panchos Grille!

Okay, folks. With some encouragement from Carey, I think I will try to make it tomorrow- with Samuel. Hopefully that will work. I’ve heard from a few folks who can’t make it already (both Jeff’s- maybe they don’t have a Superman/Clark Kent relationship after all), but I’m still hoping most everyone else can. Are you coming?

I message Rob via facebook comment that I cannot make it; unfortunately. The switch to the 3rd Friday has been a bad one for me.
Enjoy the food and conversation.

The switch has been bad for me, too. I hope it’s just a string of coincidences that lightens up soon.
